Introducing the idea of Egypt and its mysteries, I used the examples of singers and movies during my time which drew inspiration from the Egyptian culture:
Walk Like an Egyptian (Bangles)

Remember the Time (Michael Jackson)

Mummy

Night at the museum

The Mystery of the Pyramids still puzzles mankind. We watched The Pyramid Code to stimulate our curiosity:

For more of this, youtube "Pyramid Code" to watch the 25 parts!

We were so intrigued and I invited you to come online to watch the Secret of The Pyramids:

Finally in the show Wierd or What, we wondered if the Egyptians travelled to South America before Columbus:

Now where do we apply exposition in practice? CSI work would require you to explore and find evidence! This clip on Crime Watch:

An inquiring mind would question and get to the bottom of things! Another time we would use the skills of exposition is when we are sent email hoaxes such as the following:

How do you separate facts from opinions? 9/11 does not make an impact on you as most of you were about 4 years old when this happened? Well anyway, I picked this video for you to think about how facts can be presented as the whole truth. As IJ's Women of Distinction, you need to have an inquiring mind and stop taking everything presented to you as gospel truth. What are your thoughts/views on this castastrophic event of our times:

Here's another conspiracy theory on Man Landing on the moon. Here's the full documentary:

Mr Han, shared with me that Moon Landing Hoax is also explored in Mythbusters:

Please note: Only China, Russia, Japan and the United States have sent spacecraft into orbit around the Moon. However, US is the only one that claims that man has landed on the moon! Comments/Views?

Fact vs Opinion

Whilst the Persuasive essay gives you a platform to present your views, I've always stressed on the fact that you must have evidece to support your arguements. I also mentioned that these evidences must be factual and not mere sweeping statements. Here's the vlog (video blog) I showed in class re Fact vs Opinion on Papa Johns vs Dominos Pizza:

When you present your facts, you need to make a stand in persuasive essay, hence this is YOUR OPINION. You have to have an opinion, otherwise there is no case to argue - think about this.
